How did the cafe come about?

We took our Mandates from the Church voiced through the prophetic words of Pope John Paul II:

"The future of humanity passes by way of the family." Pope John Paul II, Familiaris Consortio

To create a "Culture of Life", the Church needs to foster Christ-centered families, founded on holy marriages, formed by the union of spouses who have sought to conform themselves to Christ during their time as single young adults.

"True holiness does not mean a flight from the world; rather, it lies in the effort to incarnate the Gospel in everyday life, in the family, at school and at work, and in social and political involvement." Pope John Paul II, Address to Covenant Communities

The Second Vatican Council stressed the important fact that the personal call to holiness is not just for the clergy and those living a religious life, but that it's for every Christian. And it's possible when we rely on the Holy Spirit! We grow in holiness by

Educating minds about the truth of the human person as revealed to us through Jesus Christ and his Church.

Promoting transformation of hearts through an encounter with the love of Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Fostering relationships where the truth of our faith is witnessed, experienced, and lived out in love.

Empowered by our relationship with Christ the Lord, Good News Café espouses the mission to foster the call of all Christians to transform the culture through a renewal of friendships, marriages, and families based on authentic Christian love.

Dedicated to the Holy Family, placed under the care and protection of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and seeking the special intercession of the late Pope John Paul II, Servant of God:

Prayer in Honor of the Holy Family

O God, Who by the Holy Family of the Incarnate Word
has consecrated the whole earth,
and has in Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
given us the example of every virtue,
look down with favor on this Community
which devotes and consecrates itself
in a special manner to their service.

Protect each member; and grant to us
the strength to persevere unto the end
in imitation of the Holy Family,
in order that keeping faithfully attached
to Your service during our earthly pilgrimage,
we may at its close breath forth our souls to You
with the sacred names of Jesus, Mary and Joseph on our Lips.
Amen.

Prayer to Servant of God Pope John Paul II

O Holy Trinity,
we thank you for having given to the Church
Pope John Paul II,
and for having made him shine
with your fatherly tenderness,
the glory of the Cross of Christ
and the splendor of the Spirit of love.

He, trusting completely in your infinite mercy
and in the maternal intercession of Mary,
has shown himself
in the likeness of Jesus the Good Shepherd
and has pointed out to us holiness
as the path to reach eternal communion with You.
Grant us, through his intercession,
according to your will, the grace that we implore,
in the hope that he will soon be numbered among your saints.
Amen.
